Bridal Hairstyles that Last All Day

On the day of your wedding, more than likely the first thing on your list will be hair and makeup.  You want a hairstyle that will be gorgeous, classic and timeless, but also something that is going to last from the getting ready pics at 9am to the reception and dance at 9pm.  Not only does your hair have to stand the test of time, but throw in humidity, wind, sweat and countless movement, and your hairstyle basically needs to be ready for battle!  Here are a few helpful tips and ideas to help you figure out how to conquer wedding hair on your big day.

Try Braids

If you want to spice up your look or add a little more structure and support to your updo, braids are the perfect option!  There are soooo many different ways to twist and braid, and and unlimited amount of styles that work with all types and lengths of hair.  Not to mention when your hair is up in a braid it is not as prone to falling out, and even if it gets a little humid, your hair still looks pretty and is swept out of your face and out of the way.

Tip:  After you’ve finished the braid, hold it at the base and gently pull pieces apart to add texture and volume.  Have fun and be creative with it, find the perfect look that is totally unique for your special day!

Go Sleek

On the opposite side of boho there is sleek and glamorous.  These styles are perfect for brides who don’t want to have to mess with curls de-flating or feeling like your messy bun is falling out.  These kind of up-dos are perfect for all day wear and tear and still look gorgeous for your send off photos that night!

Best of Both Worlds

Are you dreaming of the look of silky soft curls billowing down your shoulders but your hair doesn’t hold curls for more than 20 minutes??  Try starting with your hair down, or half up for your photos and ceremony and then go for a easy updo for the reception!  You don’t want to take hours to do an elaborate style mid-wedding so the key here is to keep things simple!

Hope you can get some inspiration from these pics and tips!  Best of luck!

Bridesmaid Gifts: What to get your Girls

Planning a wedding is stressful.  All my married ladies can I get an amen??  The whole process of planning every detail, juggling in-laws and relatives, booking vendors – it can get overwhelming very quickly!  Which is is why it is essential to have your go-to-girls walk with you through the process or just take you out for drinks and venting after a long day of decision making.  While none of your girls will be expecting you to give them a present, it does show them that you are grateful that they are willing to devote a couple hundred bucks, and a few days to ensure your wedding day goes off without a hitch.  So make sure to give you bridesmaids a thank you gift that shows them just how much their time and support means to you. Here are some ideas to give you a little inspiration.

Rustic Elegance: All about barn weddings

Not all weddings are taking place between four walls. Outdoor ceremonies and barn receptions have become increasingly popular. This countryside trend is adorned with beautiful details. With infinite possibilities for stunning photos and room for hometown flair, planning a barn wedding involves quite a few factors. It can be easy to think about what to wrap in burlap or hang from the wood rafters, but what is more difficult is remembering the logistics of an outdoorsy location. Here are a few tips.

Have a back up budget plan to rent tables, chairs and other decor, for some barn venues come with…just the barn.

Provide guests with necessities to take on nature. Flip-flops for mud or uneven ground and fans for that July afternoon are a must.

Make sure your bathrooms are not outhouse rustic. 🙂

And lastly, don’t forget the bug spray.

Try not to get too caught up in the nitty-gritty of your rural affair. The barn venue can add the perfect charm to your special day.

Cheers to your country fairy tale and happy wedding!

All the vendors we worked with were absolutely amazing! We received so many compliments on how good our cake was! Our wedding cake looked fabulous and all the guys raved over the KC Arrowhead. Everyone loved my bouquet! Our photographer Kacy was amazing! She made the day fun and laid back. I can’t count the number of compliments we received on her personality! Our food was great, everyone kept complimenting the mac and cheese. I never got to try it being so busy! The guests had so much fun with the photo booth. The DJ was fun and interactive and did an amazing job keeping a schedule going for the evening! The linens and props were beautiful! My most favorite part of the venue was the outdoor area where the ceremony was held. Oh, you can’t forget the carriage, that was perfect and so much fun!

My dress and the bridesmaids dresses all came from The White Dress.

My only advice…

Things will go wrong on your wedding day and the few days leading up to your big day! There is NO doubt about that.

Don’t stress it though. Focus on your day, it boils down to you and your groom. Have fun and enjoy it because it goes by SO fast!
